How do we perform lens frame repair with weld?
Step 1: Prepare the joint
In a welding project, joint preparation is the very first and important step. For high-quality weld, we will clear the frame weld area from any paint or coating. Also, clean both edges of the weld from any oils or dirt. If needed, we will grind the parts to make them flat for a tight joint.
Step 2: Add filler wire
Filler wire works as glue and joins the broken parts together. There are many filler wires available in the market but we use silver fill wire on eyeglasses frames. Silver is more compatible than other metals. We use a thinner wire (26-30 AWG) so we can add other similar metals to your frame to make the repair more precise.
