We shape a Sterling Silver bar to match the shape of the original elbow post section.
Then we prepare the old elbow post section to accept the new eyelet backplate.
- The backside (yellow on sketch) of the elbow will be filed down and then a solid silver backplate (green) (hand fabricated) will be installed to ensure greater strength for the rimless mounting system.
- After that, we will weld the new backplate securely to the original Cartier elbow, but only from the back and side so you won’t see the repair.
- Then gold plate the Cartier eyeglass elbow post section with high karat yellow gold – or white gold if that applies.
And finally, the Cartier eyeglass elbow post frame gets mounted to the lens again.
