When the eyelet section of a Cartier rimless elbow breaks in half we offer a specific retrofit that provides greater strength after the repair:
We shape a Sterling Silver bar to match the shape of the original eyelet.
Then we prepare the elbow to accept the new eyelet backplate.
- The backside ( yellow) of the elbow will file down and then a solid silver backplate ( green) ( hand fabricated) will install to ensure greater strength for the rimless mounting system
. 
- After that, we will weld the new backplate securely to the original Cartier elbow, but only from the back and side so you won’t see the repair.
- Then we will do gold dipping of the elbow.
And finally, the Cartier eyeglass frame gets mounted to the lens again.
And the Cartier eyeglass elbow/post retrofit has been properly performed.
